What does the fox say?

One day we were shopping at Michael's for some crafts for our next cake smash session when we ran into Nicole, who is one of the coordinators on the Disney Fairytale Weddings team that Amanda works with. She was visibly pregnant so we congratulated her on her pregnancy and offered some suggestions on decor she was purchasing for her upcoming baby shower before heading our separate ways. To our surprise, Nicole contacted us later to discuss us photographing her newborn! Over the course of the next few weeks we reviewed the vision Nicole had for her session with her and were so stoked to see she wanted to include her chocolate labrador, Daisy, in the session! She also wanted to incorporate teddy bears and a fox scene into her session. We hadn't photographed either idea previously so we were over the moon at the thought of it.

Nicole thought she would be delivering a couple of weeks early because both of her sisters had done so. I had a feeling she wouldn't so I wasn't surprised when she was still carrying a week past her due date! LOL Finally she texted me to let me know she was in labor but he was taking his time and would hopefully arrive within the next day. She still hadn't figured out a name for him so we were excited to not only meet him but to find out what they had decided to name him! Poor Nicole ended up having to do a c-section but he finally entered the world at 5:35am the next day weighing 7lbs 14oz and 20" long. :)

The following week Nicole and Matt arrived for their session with baby Patrick. He was so stinking cute and a spitting image of his daddy!! We were a little bummed that they decided against bringing their dog but we understood how challenging it can be to get out of the house on time with a newborn baby and a dog!

I had recently gotten interested in the art of needle felting so I wondered if I would be able to craft a teddy bear in time for Nicole's session. I spent some time researching different techniques and dived right in. It was so much fun crafting, very therapeutic! I couldn't wait to show her what I'd made, I hadn't told her about it just in case I wasn't able to make it look decent! LOL I love surprising our clients with small gestures like this, it really puts a smile on their faces. :) We had so much fun during Patrick's session, especially with the teddy bear and fox scenes.

We were amazed at how great Nicole looked, it didn't even seem like she had just had a baby! Motherhood definitely looks good on her, we're so happy for her. We're glad that we know her personally so we'll get to watch little Patrick grow up. That's one of our most favorite aspects of this job; we love seeing how they change and watching their little personalities develop. :)
